Organic Cotton
Why wear organic cotton?
Organic cotton is an eco friendly alternative to conventional cotton farming. Cotton is the world's most important non-food agricultural commodity. It is responsible for the release of US$2 billion (£1 billion) of chemical pesticides every year. US$819 million (£410 million) of these are toxic enough to be classified as hazardous by the World Health Organisation. Cotton farming accounts for 16% of the world's pesticides - more than any other single crop.Cotton farming not only damages the environment but has adverse effects on the health on cotton farmers and their families.

Organic supima cotton
Organic supima cotton is American Pima cotton grown without pesticides: premium cotton with extra long fibres used to spin finer cotton yarns which can be knitted or woven to produce finer and luxurious cotton fabric.Pima cotton is a generic name for extra long staple (ELS) cotton grown in the US, Australia, Israel, Peru and in very limited production in a few other locations around the world.
What's the difference between Supima and Egyptian cotton? To many consumers, Egyptian cotton is synonymous with the finest and most luxurious cotton. Most of the cotton exported by Egypt is long staple cotton and not ELS cotton. While Egypt produces some very good-quality ELS cotton, it only accounts for 10% of the world's export of ELS cotton.
